Note from Gary Kusch: The game account in the Galveston Daily News lists Baylor winning the 11/2 game by a 10-9 score. After trailing 9-0 at the half, Baylor had two long touchdown runs in the second half to go ahead 10-9 and this was the final score per the paper. All sources I have seen, including mine, give the 11-10 result. I found an article on Baylor football history which noted that for years Baylor had claimed a 10-9 win while TCU claimed the 11-10 score. The article goes on to state that Kern Tips, a long time SWC football announcer (I used to listen to him as a kid), offered an explanation in his book ?Football, Texas Style.? He states that late in the second half there was a disputed safety scored by TCU. The officials were in disagreement about the call as the goal line had been obliterated during the game. The debate supposedly continued after the teams and spectators had left. The paper makes no mention of the controversial play and subsequent debate.
